Questions you need to ask first.

Lead is a dangerous and toxic metal that was used in many different paint products for lots of years before finally being banned in the United States in 1977. In homes built before 1978, it was commonplace for lead-based paint to be used in residential settings. But, is lead paint dangerous?

Yes, lead paint is dangerous! With lead paint, a risk of lead poisoning exists for all the residents of the home. Young children and small children are exceedingly sensitive to exposure to lead and the resulting complications that arise. This makes it even more important to have a lead inspector determine the source of lead paint hazards in your home, such as paint chips, household dust containing lead dust, etc.

Do you have young children?

Was your home built before 1978?

Are you constantly sick for no apparent reason?

How much will it cost?

At SPS Inspections, the cost of Lead Inspection and Testing Services starts at $250 and goes up from there depending on the needs of the client. This pays for shipping costs to get your lead samples to an accredited lab, and the lead sample testing and results for 2 paint samples taken from the home by one of our certified home inspectors.

How long does lead testing take?

Once the samples have been collected from your home by one of our experienced inspectors, they are shipped directly to the lab's testing facilities where they will be cultivated for 72 hours before results are conclusive. The lab we use is open from Monday through Friday so lead paint samples are not processed over the weekends. This being said, the turnaround time for lead inspection and lead testing services averages 6 to 7 business days.

If results from your lead test are required faster than this, a rush can be placed on your order for an additional $120, which will take the turnaround time for lead testing results from 6 to 7 business days down to 3 to 4 business days.
